We have been using reclaimed lumber in our projects for over 30 years- we have found that the added patina brings in the warmth and “comfort” that is developed after years of living in a house- the reclaim lumber speeds that “comfort” up. We often use hand-hewn beams and plank flooring. We also feel a certain satisfaction in knowing that we are using materials that at one time were thrown away- we are giving a second and sometimes third life to materials that are not even available to us today.
